Dallas, WI / Viking Brewing Co. Oktoberfest Kubb Tournament
The weather forecast kept some teams away, but the strong showed
and played from 11am to just before 6pm. Teams came from WI and
MN. The pitches were set up between the softball field that was
home to several cannon blows throughout the day, a craft area
where Amish sold their food and crafts, and a homemade lefse stand.
Just down the street, the world's longest brat was grilled and
the world's largest stein of beer served hundreds of people. The
weather consisted of mist a couple times during the day and a
constant fall wind. The Swedish language filled the air by the
father-son team of Sweden. Kubb de Grace made a run in the elimination
round after losing all of their matches in the round-robin. Red
Herron and Kanelbullarna (the cinnamom rolls) made it to the final,
with Red Herron winning the the first and third game of the best
of three final match. A Viking mug made by a local potter was
awarded to Team Herron and the top three teams won medals.
Thanks to all. See you next year on the first Saturday in October.
